There's been some buzz in the Twitter-sphere today that bike lanes are no longer in the works for 52nd Street from Monon to College, and somewhere along the line, this telephoned into some people thinking even that they'd be removed from Monon to Keystone. Thought I'd let everyone know this is not the case. We contacted Andy Lutz at the DPW to confirm that bike lanes are still on the board for 52nd, and they will be extended from College clear to Keystone. Evidently, the plans they had on-site didn't include Andy's recent revisions including bike lanes to the striping plan, so confusion abounded. It was awesome to see how quickly word spread though, even to the point that an online petition was created and already has 116 signees. Well, since it's never a bad thing to voice your support for safe sidewalks and bike lanes, feel free to hop over and sign the petition still. But, there's no need to worry about the bike lanes, and hopefully with all this support, the sidewalks will be next up on the list once funding comes through from the utility transfer.
