A possibility for constructive criticism.
Curt Ailes from Urban Indy emailed me a couple days ago asking about plans for how the city intends to restripe the bike lanes on Michigan and New York Streets, whether they've re-engineered the lanes with any of the various criticisms in mind from their first go-round. I've not talked to Andy personally about this, but with the Bike Advisory Council meeting coming up next week, I thought I'd put the question out to you readers to get some constructive feedback to present. Hopefully some of the suggestions can be realized and incorporated to the resurfacing projects along these streets. What were/are some problems with the current bike lanes? What are possible solutions to these problems given the scope of the resurfacing project? What innovations could be considered, such as bike boxes at intersections, new ways of approaching trouble intersections, etc.?
