Nap Town Chickens, a community organization promoting backyard chickens in an urban setting, held its' inaugural Tour de Coops on September 18. Billed as the Meridian-Kessler home tour of backyard chicken coops, Tour de Coops showcased 12 coops in the northern neighborhoods of Broad Ripple, Butler-Tarkington and Rocky Ripple.

The Marian University Cycling Team dominated a strong field of competitors last week during USA Cycling's Collegiate Track Nationals, extending its run as Division I National Champion to six straight years.

In his letter to the editor on Sept. 5, Ken Shearer complained about a bicyclist moving into a motorist lane from the bicycle lane. Because motorists are not allowed in bicycle lanes, debris often accumulates, which forces a bicyclist to leave the lane.

There's something to be said for fast college women. Beginning Thursday, more than 120 - and their male counterparts - will descend upon the world-famous Major Taylor Velodrome to compete in USA Cycling's Collegiate Track Nationals.

Four boys, ages 7 and 8, are gearing up for an adult-sized endurance challenge. The foursome plans to enter the 12-hour relay division of "24 Hours of DINO", a relay and solo mountain bike race held annually in Versailles Indiana. This year's event begins at noon on Saturday, September 10.

The Indianapolis Cultural Trail and the downtown Conrad Indianapolis hotel were on a collision course as soon as trail planners announced three years ago that the route would travel along the north side of heavily traveled Washington Street.

[September 1, 2011 " Indianapolis, IN] - The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis and Bicycle Garage Indy (BGI) are inviting the public to its grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Indy Bike Hub YMCA. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 am, September 14 at the City Market, 222 E. Market Street (east wing). Tours will be available immediately following the ceremony. Mayor Greg Ballard, City of Indianapolis, will be attending the event and is expected to make remarks.
