As I write what I hope to be the first of many regular blog posts here I'm reminded of a recent conversation about the impact of the Monon Trail on bicycling interest and infrastructure in our city. Personally, that's where it all started for me.

INDYCOG announced the recipients of their annual "Bicycle Friendly" awards during their Membership Appreciation Party held at the Tomlinson Tap Room this past Tuesday, January 24, 2012

When Indianapolis first began bedecking the streets with bike lanes last year, I got into a lot of conversations -- read debates and arguments -- about it. Most of those friendly little chats went something like this:

Come to Your Senses!: A Celebration of Bicycle Travel with Willie Weir! Traveling by bike not only allows you to see the world, but to hear it, smell it, touch it, and taste it as well.

Each January we call our members together to discuss INDYCOG's accomplishments and where the organization is going in the upcoming year.

On January 2nd, with both the temperature and wind speeds in the mid-20s, I and a few hundred cyclists joined Mayor Ballard for the first ever Indianapolis Polar Bear Pedal.
