When people hear the word "Cancer" it evokes many possible emotions. Fear,
sorrow, loss, pity, anger, but for cancer survivors it unites them in a common
bond. From the moment someone is diagnosed with cancer, they are immediately considered a "Survivor".

For many "Survivors", they want to do more than just "Survive". They want to rise above the devastation cancer has caused in their lives and fight for others in the midst of cancer.

That is where Spokes of Hope comes in. Spokes of Hope is a not for profit organization that combines a passion for living, riding bikes and overcoming cancer. Spokes of Hope combines these passions and matches survivors with patients recently diagnosed or currently in treatment.

They ride to the cancer centers and bring the gift of HOPE. Relating to someone who has
actually been through what they are going through makes a huge difference in the way patient's deal with the changes they are experiencing.

Spokes of Hope has a mission to help change the way cancer is perceived and treated. Cancer survivors don't want pity, they want a cure… AND they their lives back. They speak to middle school students about what cancer is, how to prevent it, and how to deal with it if and when it should affect someone in their lives.
Please consider showing support for Cancer Survivorship by participating in the bike ride on +Saturday, September 15th. The ride starts and finishes at the Cancer Support Community on West 71st street. Survivors will be recognized, lives lost will be honored, and the finish has a significant "ring" to it.

There are different distances for riders to select from. 15, 27, 40 and 61
miles. This is a ride to show support, it is not a race.

The routes are marked and supported with sag service and t-shirts and a lunch catered by Noodles & Co. will be provided.

Registration is $40 and no minimum fundraising is required.
